FAQ

Do you accept insurance?

My services as an LCSW-R must be reimbursed for out-of-network benefits from all insurance plans in New York State after you have reached your out-of-network deductible.  Please do check with your insurance carrier for clarity.  Some questions to ask your carrier:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?

  • What is the covered amount per therapy session with a "qualified third party insurance reimbursable licensed clinical social worker" or an R-LCSW?

  • Is approval required by my primary care physician?

I will supply a statement at the end of each month you can use to file a claim with your insurance carrier.

Is my information confidential?

The law protects the relationship between a psychotherapist and client, and information cannot be disclosed without express written consent.  The only exceptions to these protections are when there is suspected child abuse or neglect or when the patient threatens physical harm to self or others, in which case every effort is made to ensure the safety of those affected as required by law.

What is your cancellation policy?

Clients are responsible for paying for all scheduled sessions.  If cancellation occurs 24 hours or more before the appointment, I will make every effort possible to reschedule the missed session.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept VENMO, and ZELLE for payment before or just after each session.

Understanding my sliding fee scale:

  • If you are a current client of mine, please know that I am willing to work with you if your financial circumstances have changed. Below is an explanation of how I handle sliding fees in a way that allows for people who have limited access to financial resources to be able to receive quality therapy services.

  • Full fee

The full fee is the actual cost of therapy. This is for those of you who have enough money to meet your needs and can easily pay for wants as well. In 2023, that is $200 for a 50 minute individual session, and $250. for an hour long couples session.

  • Discount Fee

The sliding fee/discount fee is for those who are able to meet their needs but have little-to-no expendable income. Paying for counseling may qualify as a sacrifice but it would not create hardship. If you are struggling to conquer debt or build savings or move away from paycheck to paycheck living but have access to steady income and are not spending most of your time thinking about meeting basic needs such as food, shelter, medical care, child care, etc., you belong here.

If you are a current client with me, you can choose your fee within the range below based on how close you are to the serious hardship category (e.g. paying the lower fee if you almost fit in the serious hardship category, and the higher end if you do have some money beyond basic needs).

    In 2022, that is $175 to $185 for a 50 minute session.

  • Hardship Fee

The serious hardship/sliding fee price is for those who struggle to meet basic needs (food/ shelter/ medical care, etc) and paying for this service would be a significant hardship.

    In 2023, that is $100 - $165 for a 50 minute session.
